An opportunity to commemorate our graduating APISAA titans 

2025 Celebration

The Asian Pacific American Resource Center, Asian American and Pacific Islander Faculty and Staff Association, and Asian American Studies Department partner to host the annual Asian Pacific Islander South Asian American Recognition Celebration.

This event centers the unique experiences, contributions, and cultural legacies of graduating Asian Pacific Islander South Asian American (APISAA) students while honoring the collective strength, perseverance, and brilliance of all who have completed their academic journeys.

CSUF Cultural Recognition Celebrations are voluntary and open to all graduating students who would like to participate, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin

About The Ceremony

The graduation ceremony will consist of a processional, remarks from university officials and selected student speakers, reading of graduates’ names, and recessional. Each graduate's name will be called, and they will have the opportunity to walk across the stage and receive their stole.

Guests

Loved ones are integral parts of the journeys of graduating students. In addition to celebrating the graduates at APISAA Recognition Celebration, we are also honoring and celebrating the family and friends who have supported and stood alongside the students. Due to capacity, graduating students have a limit to 4 guest tickets.  

Attire

Graduating students should wear their full CSUF regalia (cap and gown) to the APIDA Recognition Celebration. Please visit   Titan Shops   for details on how to obtain your regalia. Students participating in the ceremony will receive their graduation stole as they walk across the graduation stage when their name is called.

APISAA 

We use the term APISAA, which stands for Asian Pacific Islander South Asian American, as a pan-ethnic classification that intentionally includes South Asians as part of our community. There is a great diversity of identities and ethnicities encompassed under the APISAA umbrella, including East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander. 

FAQs

Q: When is APISAA Recognition Celebration?

A: The APISAA Recognition Celebration Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: There is no cost to attend the APISAA Recognition Celebration for graduate or guests. Graduates who attend the ceremony will receive a free stole or cord to go along with their graduation regalia.

Q: Who is eligible to participate in the recognition celebrations?

A: Students who graduated or are graduating in any of the following semesters are eligible to participate in the APISAA Recognition Celebrations Fall 2024, Spring 2025, Summer 2025. Registration is open on February 24, 2025. Once all spots are filled, students will be placed on a waitlist and notified  if they are moved to the registrant list.

Q: What about guest tickets?

A: Due to capacity, graduating students have a limit to 4 guest tickets.

Q: What time are students expected to arrive?

A: Further instructions will be given once you register.

Q: What is the attire for the ceremony?

A: Students are expected to arrive in FULL regalia! Please wear your cap and gown to the APISAA Recognition Celebration Ceremony. 

Q: Where do guests park?

A: Students and guests are encouraged to park in the State College Parking Structure. Parking is free on weekends. 

Q: Will there be hooding of master’s and doctoral students?

A: In order to keep the event under two hours, only doctoral students will be hooded at the celebration. 

Q: How do I receive the APISAA stole?

A: The APISAA stole will only be given to students during the ceremony. Students may not pick up the stole earlier. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Q: Can I purchase the stole or cord and not attend the ceremony?

A: No, stoles are not available for purchase at this time.
